Democracy dies in darkness - Has democracy died in Haringey?

Haringey Councillors were due to debate the controversial road closures know as Low Traffic Neighbourhoods in a full council meeting in tonight. But Councillors refused to convene the meetings wary of a small crowd of citizens skeptical about the stated benefits and unjust impacts on socially and economically deprived communities attended the meeting. The group were armed with the most dangerous weapon of all - mobile phone cameras with wifi connection. Claims made for the reasons for not going ahead cannot be verified, but we have heard from 2 sources the group was 'loud. After 15 minutes after the due start time, if the meeting has not started it automatically cancelled. Videos uploaded to Facebook and Twitter show, the group was small, well behaved and but peeved.

Initially it was reported that Councillors refused to go into the meeting room because of 'noise'

Shortly afterwards, there were report that the meeting had been cancelled
