The actual proper plan! Work is well underway to get a Changing Places standard toilet into Finsbury Park in Haringey. Here is the first draft. Changing Places in Finsbury Park is part work to make parks in Haringey more accessible and inclusive.

What are Changing Places?
A Changing Places standard toilet is an toilet for people with complex toileting needs. The toilet includes the following:
- Height adjustable changing tables, adult sized changing bench
- A tracking hoist system
- Adequate space in the changing area for the disabled person and up to two carers
- A centrally placed toilet with space either side for the carers
- A screen or curtain to allow the disabled person and carer some privacy
- Wide tear off paper roll to cover the bench
- A large waste bin for disposable pads
- A non-slip floor
- Washbasin
- Shower/floor drain
Changing Places in Haringey Parks
Following up from our 2019 post regarding what £15k should be spent on, £30k has been ringfenced for Changing Places. Three parks in Haringey are due to get the Changing Places - Finsbury Park, Lordship Rec and Queens Wood. Each Changing Places toilet needs a basic minimum 12 square metres and can be modular or convert from an existing space.
The plans are that Finsbury Park will be installed in the current cafe building in the middle of the park next to the boating lake. The plan for Lordship Rec -is for a modular system. the nature of the Changing Places in Queens Wood is yet to be decided upon, and this is because this is an ancient woodland there is a wider discussion to be had about the specifics of the location.
There are plans to have accessibility audits to be been carried out on these three parks. The plan is going to Cabinet in July.

You didn't hear it from me, but...
Think about a pencilled in saved date, sometime, in the month most favoured by the Star Wars, after the new moon has risen, but before it has become full, in the middle of the week and early in the morning... Saying no more than that.

Haringey SEND Transport are insisting that a 17 year old minibus with no air conditioning is a suitable vehicle to transport my paraplegic son in this heatwave. The appalling conditions inside the minibus inside the bus is something they knew about last summer, yet they have to date done nothing whatsoever provide a suitable minibus this year nor appropriately mitigate the temperatures inside the minibus. The conditions inside the minibus are so bad that they triggered multiple seizures during the heatwave as my son has epilepsy, which they SEND transport department know about and they also know that they are triggered by heat.It is not just son who is impacted: last year we know of one child who died on Haringey SEND Transport in the summer heatwave and another who had seizures.
